


About the Role
The Buyer will be responsible for identifying supply replenishment needs as specified by Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
Key Activities
Purchase Order Management - Manage system-generated action messages to release and create purchase orders.
Conduct detailed reviews of purchase orders for accuracy in quantity, pricing, and completeness.
Track and monitor order status to ensure timely delivery and confirm orders in M3 to update status.
Arrange inbound transportation for ingredients to optimize cost savings.
Order Review and Risk Management
Conduct weekly reviews of open orders using reporting tools to identify orders at risk for late arrival or potential impacts to production.
Research options to expedite shipments to avoid downtime and schedule disruptions.
Collaborate with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and adjust delivery dates based on schedule changes.
Vendor Communication - Communicate directly with suppliers to resolve order discrepancies and issues.
Submit claims and request corrective actions for defective or damaged goods.
Investigate and provide feedback on assigned Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
Pricing and Cost Analysis - Manage and negotiate quotes to ensure competitive pricing from approved suppliers.
Prepare monthly supply cost reports and communicate variances with proposed solutions.
Supplier Compliance - Acquire, review and maintain food safety documentation from suppliers and third-party copackers.
Verify that supply documents are approved before creating and sending orders.
Forecasting and Inventory Planning
Provide material forecasts to suppliers for long-lead-time raw materials to ensure availability.
Collaborate with suppliers to maintain floor stock inventory of critical supplies.
Analyze inventory levels of packaging and ingredients to align with production timing, safety stock, and lead times.
Preferred Skills
Proficient in Infor M3 and Excel.
Previous experience with food safety and documentation.
Buyer/purchasing skills.
Negotiation skills.
Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Computer Science, Business Management, or a related field is preferred, with equivalent experience in lieu of a degree, or CPIM.
Minimum of 3 years combined experience in purchasing, production planning, and/or supply chain in a complex corporate environment.
