About the Role
The Quality Manager will ensure compliance with food safety standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements while driving continuous improvement in product quality and operational efficiency.
Key Activities
Manages and leads the Quality Assurance Team setting goals and priorities in conjunction with the VP of Plant Operations and Plant Manager.
Researches, develops, implements all HACCP, GMP, SSOP and prerequisite programs required for the plant.
Develops and implements procedures and checks to ensure quality and wholesomeness to all customers while following all local, state, and federal requirements as well as BRC requirements.
Readies facility departments for all quality and food safety audits.
Produces all plant label approvals.
USDA liaison.
Develops and updates program for potential recall of products.
Water operator certifications required for plant testing.
Help to support the enforcement of company policies and customer requirements.
Help to facilitate and develop programs to enhance food safety and security.
Computer skills required.
Performs many monthly audits.
Preferred Skills
In-depth knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, and food safety systems.
Certification in Quality Management or Food Safety (e.g., SQF, BRC, ISO 22000) is a plus.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Microbiology, or related field (preferred).
Minimum 5 years of experience in a quality management role in the poultry or broader meat processing industry.
