


About the Role
The Maintenance Manager position is responsible for all maintenance operations, including building and facility maintenance, machine and preventive maintenance, and management of equipment upgrades or modifications, parts inventory, and purchasing. The goals of this role are geared towards employee safety, machine reliability, and customer satisfaction.
Key Activities
Acts as a safety leader and puts safety first in all responsibilities. Works in conjunction with the EHS Manager and the Plant Manager to establish and maintain all policies and programs to assure a safe working environment. Follows up to ensure the effectiveness of these efforts and holds personnel accountable.
Coordinates contractor activities, and monitors contractor safety performance.
Contribute to the development of maintenance budget and ensure compliance
Ensure equipment is maintained and in good working condition by scheduling timely and routine preventative maintenance to improve equipment reliability.
Constant equipment design evaluation, with analysis for engineered upgrades to improve equipment safety, performance, or lifespan
Participate in coordination of projects (e.g. renovations)
Monitors and maintains appropriate spare parts inventory levels.
Hire and supervise tradesmen during installations, repairs or maintenance (electricians, plumbers etc.)
Manage/supervise maintenance technicians and provide necessary employee development/training.
Management of department payroll and personnel scheduling.
Develops and outlines a continuous improvement program with goals for the maintenance department, including the Preventative Maintenance program.
Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules and expedite workflow.
Assign duties and examine work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures.
Ensures the facility emergency, fire, and security systems are fully operational, routinely tested, and inspected.
Performs/Assists in maintenance tasks (i.e. repair, improvement, modification) when required
Promotes a strong safety culture and demonstrates adherence to all EHS policies and procedures.
Preferred Skills
Strong technical knowledge of all building systems (electrical, heating etc.)
Knowledge of health & safety practices and regulations
Understanding of budgeting and performance management
Excellent planning and leadership abilities.
Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is strongly preferred.
3+ years of previous supervisory experience are required.
3+ years of maintenance experience or exposure within a manufacturing environment.
Previous experience in a printing or packaging manufacturing environment preferred or required.
Proven experience as a maintenance supervisor or similar role.
