Field Engineers typically perform equipment installation, commissioning, calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, software updates, and customer training while collaborating with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Technical Support, Sales, and Regulatory teams. Their responsibilities may include diagnosing hardware and software issues, maintaining service documentation, supporting field corrective actions, managing spare parts inventory, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering technical solutions that maximize equipment uptime and customer satisfaction.
Field Engineers are expected to understand how equipment performance directly impacts patient care, laboratory operations, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, and overall business success. Strong candidates typically combine technical expertise, troubleshooting ability, customer service skills, communication, regulatory knowledge, and problem-solving experience within highly regulated life sciences and medical device environments.
Common Responsibilities:
Installing, commissioning, calibrating, maintaining, and repairing medical devices, laboratory instruments, and associated systems at customer locations while ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant equipment operation.
Performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting hardware, software, electrical, mechanical, and network-related issues, and conducting root cause analysis to maximize equipment uptime and system performance.
Supporting equipment installation, validation, upgrades, software updates, field corrective actions, product recalls, and lifecycle management while ensuring compliance with FDA, ISO 13485, IEC standards, and applicable regulatory and quality requirements.
Collaborating with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Technical Support, Sales, Regulatory Affairs, and customer teams to resolve technical issues, improve product reliability, and enhance service performance.
Providing technical support, operator training, and application guidance while building strong customer relationships and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction throughout the equipment lifecycle.
Maintaining accurate service documentation including work orders, maintenance records, calibration reports, validation documentation, customer communications, and CRM/service management records to support regulatory compliance and service traceability.
Managing service inventory, spare parts, tools, field schedules, and performance metrics while supporting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance equipment reliability, service efficiency, and operational excellence.
