Maintenance Mechanics often work with packaging equipment, printing presses, conveyors, motors, pumps, gearboxes, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, PLC-controlled machinery, and facility equipment. Their work may include diagnosing equipment failures, performing mechanical repairs, conducting preventive maintenance, supporting equipment installations and upgrades, troubleshooting production issues, and collaborating with production, engineering, maintenance, and quality teams. In a manufacturing environment, the role is highly hands-on while requiring strong mechanical aptitude and technical problem-solving skills.
Maintenance Mechanics are expected to understand how equipment performance impacts productivity, quality, safety, cost, and customer satisfaction. Common Responsibilities:
Installing, inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing manufacturing equipment and mechanical systems to maximize equipment reliability and plant uptime.
Performing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production machinery, printing presses, conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and PLC-related equipment failures while implementing effective corrective actions to minimize downtime.
Monitoring equipment performance and identifying opportunities to improve reliability, productivity, safety, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
Supporting equipment installations, upgrades, commissioning, changeovers, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, equipment manuals, schematics, and technical documentation to support maintenance activities.
Maintaining accurate maintenance records, work orders, equipment histories, spare parts inventory, and CMMS documentation.
Ensuring compliance with OSHA, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), environmental regulations, company safety policies, and applicable quality standards.
