This role helps drive scientific innovation, product development, technical excellence, and regulatory compliance while advancing research programs that support business growth, product quality, and patient outcomes.
Principal Scientists often lead complex research programs, experimental design, technology development, product characterization, scientific investigations, data analysis, risk assessments, and technical problem-solving while working closely with R&D, Clinical, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams. Their work may include developing scientific strategies, interpreting experimental results, supporting regulatory submissions, mentoring research teams, identifying emerging technologies, and guiding products from concept through commercialisation.
Principal Scientists are expected to understand how scientific research directly impacts product performance, regulatory compliance, manufacturing scalability, patient safety, and overall business success. Strong candidates typically combine advanced scientific expertise, research leadership, analytical ability, innovation, communication skills, and sound technical judgment to support product development within highly regulated Life Sciences manufacturing environments.
Common Responsibilities:
Leading complex research and development programs from concept, feasibility, product development, verification, validation, and commercialization while supporting scientific innovation and business objectives.
Developing scientific strategies, experimental designs, research methodologies, and technical approaches while ensuring compliance with GLP, GMP, GCP (where applicable), FDA, ISO, and company quality standards.
Providing technical leadership in scientific investigations, data interpretation, risk assessments, root cause analysis, and problem-solving to support product performance, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Collaborating with R&D, Clinical, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams throughout the product lifecycle to achieve successful development outcomes.
Analyzing experimental data, preparing scientific reports, regulatory documentation, technical publications, and presentations while communicating findings to internal and external stakeholders.
Driving innovation by identifying emerging technologies, scientific advancements, process improvements, intellectual property opportunities, and new product development initiatives.
Mentoring scientists and cross-functional research teams while fostering technical excellence, collaboration, continuous learning, and the successful execution of strategic research objectives.
