QC Inspector Job Description:

A QC Inspector is responsible for inspecting, testing, and verifying raw materials, components, work-in-process, and finished products to ensure they meet quality specifications, regulatory requirements, and company standards within a Life Sciences manufacturing environment. This role helps ensure product quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and manufacturing consistency by performing inspections, documenting results, identifying nonconformances, and supporting continuous quality improvement initiatives.


QC Inspectors typically work with inspection procedures, measuring and testing equipment, quality documentation, sampling plans, calibration programs, nonconformance reporting, and regulatory compliance systems. Their responsibilities may include performing incoming, in-process, and final inspections; conducting visual, dimensional, and functional testing; documenting inspection results; supporting CAPA activities; maintaining inspection records; and collaborating with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Regulatory teams. 


QC Inspectors are expected to understand how inspection activities directly impact product quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance, manufacturing efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Strong candidates typically combine inspection expertise, analytical skills, regulatory knowledge, problem-solving ability, communication skills, and sound judgment while maintaining accuracy in fast-paced and highly regulated manufacturing environments.

Common Responsibilities:

  • Performing incoming, in-process, and final inspections of raw materials, components, work-in-process, and finished products to verify compliance with approved specifications and quality standards.

  • Conducting visual, dimensional, functional, and sampling inspections using precision measuring instruments, testing equipment, and established inspection procedures to ensure product conformity.

  • Ensuring compliance with FDA, cGMP/GMP, ISO 13485, Good Documentation Practices (GDP), and other applicable regulatory and quality requirements while maintaining accurate inspection records.

  • Collaborating with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Regulatory teams to investigate quality issues, resolve nonconformances, and support product release activities.

  • Identifying nonconforming materials and products, supporting root cause analysis, CAPA activities, quality investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and improve product quality.

  • Verifying calibration status of inspection and testing equipment, supporting internal audits, maintaining data integrity, and ensuring compliance with company quality management systems.

  • Utilizing quality management systems, inspection documentation, testing equipment, and electronic quality records to maintain traceability, generate inspection reports, support regulatory compliance, and improve manufacturing quality performance
