


About the Role
The Production Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of production operations and personnel to meet established production and quality control standards. Schedules, trains, and motivates the production labor force to ensure consistent attainment of production schedules at optimal productivity and cost levels.
Key Activities
Supervise hourly production employees assigned to his/her shift.
Work in conjunction with Maintenance Supervisor and mechanics, Warehouse Manager, forklift drivers, Quality Assurance manager and QA technicians, purchasing, scheduling, R&D, Sales, and Administration personnel.
Responsible for meeting attainment goals established for production continuity and balance.
Continuous improvement mindset to recommend improvements in production flow or methods.
Schedules, trains, and motivates production personnel labor force.
Uses operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and to improve quality.
Critically monitor and review the daily line performance and make improvements or adjustments as needed.
Implement and maintain visual management tools.
Analyze operational data to determine inefficiencies and develop corrective actions.
Work with different leaders to develop our lean culture to “best in class”
Challenge the company’s lean thinking and develop visual representations of what optimal processes look like.
Reporting results to the departmental teams.
Enforce all company safety rules. Properly train all production employees in safe operating procedures and work practices. Ensure all machinery is in safe working condition. Identify and report potential safety hazards.
In the event of an emergency responsible for safe evacuation of the production employees in the building.
Ensure production employees follow all operating procedures. Continuously monitor quality and take appropriate action to prevent out of spec products from being produced.
Investigate causes of any out of spec production.
Properly assigns production employees and determines proper utilization of machinery with the objective of completing the production schedule.
Coordinate with purchasing and warehouse departments on the availability flow of packaging and raw material requirements.
Monitors progress during shift and makes appropriate adjustments, communicates timely with upper management when schedule completion does not occur.
Maintain the production area in a neat and orderly condition. Assign housekeeping tasks to production employees and have the production area ready for plant inspections.
Instructs employees in efficient use of material, machinery, Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices. Identifies the developmental needs of employees and mentors their developmental skills and knowledge.

Solid lean background, on strategic, tactical, and operational levels.
Able to set standards and continuously improve them.

Education and Experience
Years of Experience: 5 years in a Production Manager role in food industry.
Education - High School Diploma or General Education Degree. (University or Technical School) Related field of study: Food Technology, Manufacturing, or related.
