


About the Role
The Plant Mechanic will be responsible for installing, repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting processing equipment and machinery such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines/equipment. Informs supervisory personnel about maintenance requirements and parts/supplies needed to repair equipment.
Key Activities
Promotes and adheres to company safety work rules and regulations.
Installs, repairs, maintains, and troubleshoots processing equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, and malfunctioning apparatus such as motors, conveyors, and pumps.
Performs advanced welding functions, including Stick, Tig, and Mig.
Troubleshoots plant maintenance for other mechanics, as needed and demonstrates proper tools and methods of repair.
Ensures machine fittings and parts fabricating/repairing function meet operational needs and are maintained in an efficient manner.
Assists with identifying production line operational inefficiencies and suggests improvements.
Lubricates and maintains machine tools and equipment.
Demonstrates comfort with work in a team environment.
Assists in providing training of employees in the department.
Plans workload consistent with support for all activities underway in the area of responsibility and makes provision for alternate tasks when roadblocks are met.
Demonstrates comfort with computer software to enter data and values to make operational programming changes.
Learns from others and finds help in diagnosis of faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment using OEM manuals.
Assists with computer software to enter data and values (operational set points) to make operational programming changes for line equipment.
Work in a safe manner and utilize personal protective equipment and observe safety measures including Lock Out/Tag Out procedures to insure personal and safety of others.
Documents work resulting in changes to machine function and repairs of a machine in logs and on schematics.
Serves as a team player assisting other mechanics to carry out their duties.
Assists with basic carpentry, buildings maintenance, and plumbing as needed to support department needs.
Operates and understands the function of a forklift.
Reads calipers and dial indicators.
Observes and participates in the processes of any necessary fabricating taking dimensions, layout design, cut or shear pieces, maintain square, and weld joints and seams maintaining square while avoiding buckling of panels.
Owns proper tools for the job as specified by the company and maintains the tools in a clean and safe manner.
Communicates problems or changes in department to supervisor and appropriate personnel.
Attends and participates in all annual, departmental, and job specific required training and monthly informational meetings.
Understands and adheres to the concepts and techniques of the quality process in order to ensure a quality operation.
Keeps area clean and orderly in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
Helps to build and promote a strong “Teamwork” environment in each individual work group, the Factory, and the Company.

Education and Experience
Programmable logic controllers: 1 year.
Mechanical knowledge: 4 years.
