Maintenance Technicians often work with packaging equipment, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, electrical controls, sensors, and production machinery. Their work may include inspecting and repairing equipment, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, supporting equipment installations, maintaining spare parts inventory, documenting maintenance activities, and collaborating with production, engineering, and quality teams. In a manufacturing environment, the role is highly hands-on while requiring strong technical knowledge and a proactive approach to equipment reliability.
Maintenance Technicians are expected to understand how equipment performance impacts productivity, quality, safety, and operational efficiency. Common Responsibilities:
Installing, inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing manufacturing equipment and facility systems to maximize equipment reliability and plant uptime.
Performing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production machinery, conveyors, motors, pumps, gearboxes, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
Diagnosing mechanical and electrical equipment failures, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing effective corrective actions.
Monitoring equipment performance and recommending improvements to enhance productivity, reliability, safety, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, equipment manuals, schematics, and technical documentation to support maintenance activities.
Supporting equipment installations, startups, modifications, changeovers, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintaining accurate maintenance records, work orders, equipment histories, spare parts inventory, and CMMS documentation.
Ensuring compliance with OSHA, company safety policies, environmental regulations, and applicable quality standards.
Following GMP and food safety requirements where applicable while maintaining clean, organized, and safe work areas.
Collaborating with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, Operations, and EH&S teams to resolve equipment issues and improve manufacturing performance.
