A Senior Scientist is responsible for leading scientific research, product development, process optimization, and technical investigations within a Life Sciences manufacturing environment. This role helps advance pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, diagnostic, and related products by driving innovation, supporting product commercialization, and ensuring regulatory compliance while delivering high-quality scientific solutions.
Senior Scientists often design and execute complex experiments, analyze scientific data, develop product and process improvements, support technology transfers, validation activities, and troubleshooting efforts while working closely with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams. Their work may include developing experimental protocols, preparing technical documentation, interpreting research findings, supporting regulatory submissions, mentoring junior scientists, and advancing products from development through commercialization.
Senior Scientists are expected to understand how scientific research directly impacts product quality, manufacturing performance, regulatory compliance, patient safety, and overall business success. Strong candidates typically combine scientific expertise, analytical ability, technical leadership, problem-solving skills, communication skills, and continuous improvement experience to support innovation within highly regulated Life Sciences manufacturing environments.
Common Responsibilities:
Designing, executing, and leading research and development activities supporting new product development, process optimization, technology advancement, and product commercialization initiatives.
Developing experimental plans, analyzing scientific data, preparing technical reports, regulatory documentation, presentations, and research findings while ensuring compliance with GLP, GMP, GCP (where applicable), FDA, ISO, ICH, and company quality standards.
Leading laboratory studies, product evaluations, verification, validation, troubleshooting activities, and scientific investigations to support product quality, performance, and regulatory compliance.
Collaborating with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams throughout the product lifecycle to achieve successful development outcomes.
Applying scientific expertise to perform risk assessments, root cause analysis, process improvements, and corrective actions while driving innovation and operational excellence.
Supporting technology transfers, process validation, manufacturing scale-up, new product introductions (NPI), intellectual property development, scientific publications, and regulatory submissions.
Mentoring junior scientists and laboratory personnel while fostering technical excellence, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the successful execution of strategic research initiatives.
