


About the Role
The Maintenance Supervisor will focus on maintaining and repairing the building and equipment while adhering to company, USDA, and food safety policies. This individual will work under the direction of the Production Support Manager and bring extensive knowledge of operating equipment, specifically for the meat industry, and maintenance of this equipment.
Key Activities
Maintain the following equipment, diagnosing and making necessary repairs.
Stunner.
De-hairer.
Freezers.
Packaging Equipment.
Hot Water Equipment.
Slaughter Line System and Equipment.
Knives and other hand tools.
Barn maintenance and upkeep.
Route from barn to plant maintenance and upkeep.
Outdoor maintenance – lawn care, snow removal, docks and drives.
Shop upkeep.
HVAC/Ventilation/Fans.
General upkeep – painting, repair, etc.
Perform Daily Maintenance
Execute daily start-ups to make sure equipment is in proper operating condition.
Execute end of day processes including cleaning; machine maintenance; prep for next day
Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot machinery, processing equipment and facilities problems as needed for production issues and efficiency.
Safely operate various maintenance shop tools including welders, grinders, etc.
Maintain all areas of the shop, production rooms and interior/exterior of the plant.
Troubleshoot electrical functions (i.e., motors, controls, PLC function and basic wiring)
Confer with management and suppliers to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
Read and interpret equipment manuals, maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Complete preventative maintenance tasks as assigned.
Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) training, along with company pre-requisite programs, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), and Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOP’s).
Assist daily production efforts when and where needed.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Perform all duties within OSHA and company safety standards: LOTO, wear PPE and maintain safety equipment.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
Immediately report any accidents or deficiencies to the Production Support Manager and Production Manager.
Preferred Skills
Prior knowledge of food processing equipment is helpful.
Complex problem-solving skills, proven ability to solve problems independently.
Education and Experience
Ability to perform basic hands-on repairs of electrical, mechanical refrigeration, plumbing, air and water systems.
Basic metal fabrication experience is preferred but not required
Minimum of 1 to 5 years of equipment maintenance
Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electronics.
Knowledge of electrical/mechanical safety practices.
