About the Role

The Quality Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring food safety and quality protocols are followed on their shift. This role also supports and enforces the certification, regulatory, customer, and brand requirements as outlined by the business and implements continuous improvement projects to meet these requirements.

Key Activities

  • Ensure food safety is maintained by confirming that pasteurisation processes and preservative levels are within specification. 

  • Maintain instruments and ensure calibrations are being performed on specified schedules. 

  • Supervise, lead, and motivate a team of Quality Control Technicians and Lab Technicians to deliver results by communicating company goals, including quality and customer satisfaction, safety practices, and deadlines. 

  • Maintain the process of laboratory data on instruments, monitor the data for accuracy through exceptional reporting, analyse the data, recognise out-of-spec measurements, and make process improvement recommendations. 

  • Train and validate the skills of the Quality Control Technicians and Lab Technicians. 

  • Monitor the par levels of consumables and order as needed. 

  • Assist in the assessment and disposition of non-compliant raw materials and finished goods. 

  • Ensure quality measurements are performed on time and that results are within specification. Ensure the correct materials and lot codes are used for each customer’s specification. 

  • Drive adherence to safety regulations. 

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to organise and coordinate diverse activities. 

  • Strong proofreading and written communication skills. 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology or similar, or equivalent experience.

  • At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing laboratory environment with similar functions (preferably 4-6 years).  

  • HAACP/Food Safety training a plus.
