About the Role

The Key Account Manager – Defence Market will be responsible for managing and growing key accounts within the U.S. defence market. This role will proactively identify new business opportunities, develop and execute strategic sales and marketing plans, and utilise key account management methodologies such as Miller Heiman to maximise customer satisfaction and revenue growth.

Key Activities

  • The Key Account Manager – Defence Market is responsible for managing and growing key accounts within the U.S. defence market. This role will proactively identify new business opportunities, develop and execute strategic sales and marketing plans, and utilise key account management methodologies such as Miller Heiman to maximise customer satisfaction and revenue growth.

  • Proactively research, identify, and qualify new key account opportunities within the defence market.

  • Develop and implement strategies to prospect and secure new business, including bid tracking and pipeline management.

  • Leverage industry knowledge to anticipate customer needs and position the company as a preferred partner.

  • Collaborate with the Sales and Marketing teams to create and execute strategic plans tailored to the defence market.

  • Analyse market trends, competitive landscape, and customer feedback to inform product positioning and value propositions.

  • Identify and participate in relevant defence industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to promote the company and generate leads.

  • Develop and achieve annual sales budget goals for assigned accounts and new business targets.

  • Maintain accurate forecasting, reporting, and CRM updates.

  • Track progress against targets and adjust strategies as needed to ensure goals are met or exceeded.

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders (engineering, operations, customer service) to ensure customer requirements are met.

  • Utilise the network of reps, distributors, and direct sales teams to expand market coverage and penetration.

  • Provide regular updates to management on account status, market conditions, and opportunities.

Preferred Skills


  • Veteran or military background preferred.

  • Technical aptitude in Electro-mechanical products working in design centres to win print position.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or Technical degree preferred.

  • Minimum five (5) plus years relevant sales experience; connectors (push/pull is a plus) in value-add solutions selling within Medical, Industrial, and Military market segments. Equivalent Experience may be substituted for the educational requirement.
