About the Role

The FSQA Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily food safety and quality operations in a USDA-regulated meat processing facility. This role leads a team of QA Technicians, ensuring adherence to BRC, HACCP, USDA, GMP, and internal quality systems while maintaining strong floor presence, enforcing compliance, and driving accountability.

Key Activities

Leadership & Floor Oversight

  • Supervise and schedule a team of QA Technicians, ensuring daily tasks are executed accurately and on time.

  • Maintain a strong presence on the floor to enforce GMPs, sanitation standards, and food safety compliance.

  • Coach, train, and evaluate team performance, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Conduct shift huddles and participate in production meetings.

Food Safety & Quality Compliance

  • Oversee implementation and execution of BRC, HACCP, and USDA Quality Systems.

  • Conduct pre-op, metal detection checks, CCP/OPRP verification, and product quality inspections.

  • Lead investigations for non-conformances, customer complaints, and deviations; initiate CAPA actions.

  • Ensure USDA regulatory requirements and documentation are maintained.

Documentation & Audit Readiness

  • Maintain and verify document control for HACCP records, QA checks, monitoring logs, and USDA-required documentation.

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of QA and CCP records for daily review and verification.

  • Prepare the facility for internal, third-party, customer, and regulatory audits (BRC, USDA, HACCP).

  • Support mock recalls, traceability exercises, and verification activities.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to enhance product quality, compliance, and team performance.

  • Assist with the training of production staff on quality, food safety, and GMP procedures.

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline

  • Experience in turkey, poultry, beef, or pork processing

  • Prior experience in a BRC- or SQF-certified facility

Education and Experience

  • Associate degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Quality Assurance, or related field OR equivalent relevant experience.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in food/meat processing, including USDA exposure.

  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or lead experience.

  • Working knowledge of USDA regulations, HACCP, GMPs, and BRC standards.
