


About the Role
The Packaging Equipment & Automation Specialist will provide technical expertise and sales support to our Sales Professionals who sell packaging solutions—boxes, shrink, film, sanitation, and related consumables.
Key Activities
Work alongside Sales Professionals on field sales calls to identify opportunities for automation and equipment upgrades at customer sites.
Conduct equipment demonstrations and site visits to understand customer applications, line layouts and packaging requirements.
Provide technical expertise and consultative support to help sales reps position equipment, parts, service and consumables as integrated solutions.
Prepare and respond to customer RFQs/RFPs, developing proposals that may include new equipment, upgrades/retrofits, line redesign, and preventive maintenance services.
Promote the sale of consumables (boxes, film, shrink wrap, sanitation supplies, etc.) and preventative maintenance agreements with each equipment proposal.
Develop and maintain an up-to-date project pipeline for equipment and automation opportunities.
Plan and modify equipment configurations to meet customer needs, in collaboration with OEMs and internal teams.
Arrange and coordinate equipment demonstrations, FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests), trial installations and start-ups.
Work with internal service/dispatch teams to schedule installations, repairs, and consumable trials.
Maintain accurate documentation of all sales activities, opportunities, quotes and orders in the CRM.
Maintain current knowledge of company equipment, controls and packaging processes, including technical and functional characteristics.
Review and recommend equipment and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and customer outcomes.
Facilitate customer training for new equipment installations, upgrades and retrofits.
Support ongoing training of sales reps and internal teams on equipment capabilities, applications and value propositions.
Collaborate with sales, design, customer service, technical service and operations to clear obstacles and deliver a high level of service to customers.
Monitor competition, industry trends, and economic indicators to help shape equipment and automation strategies.
Adhere to company policies, safety guidelines and quality standards; contribute ideas for process improvements that support marketing and financial objectives.
Preferred Skills
Experience selling or supporting sales of packaging automation equipment, co-packing or related industrial equipment strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma and/or 5S principles is an asset.
Education and Experience
High school diploma/GED required; technical or engineering coursework preferred.
3–5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally with mechanical packaging processes (case packing, cartoning, shrink, film, conveying, etc.).
