


About the Role
The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for overseeing daily production operations to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective manufacturing processes. This role focuses on meeting production targets, maintaining quality standards, optimising processes, and leading production teams to achieve operational excellence.
Key Activities
Responsible for ensuring that the output of Production, Quality Control, Packaging, and Shipping meets established schedules and quality goals.
Responsible for meeting customer forecasts/deliveries.
Responsible for determining, maintaining, and establishing minimum finished good products based on sales and forecasts.
Responsible for the management, discipline, and evaluation of the Shipping Supervisor, Production Supervisor and Lead, Quality Control (QC) Supervisor and Lead, and Packaging Supervisor and Lead.
Responsible for oversight and training of Shipping Supervisor, Production Supervisor, QC Supervisor, Packaging Supervisor and other staff as needed.
Responsible for coordinating overall recruiting efforts in collaboration with Human Resources and each department’s Supervisor for Production, Quality Control, Packaging, and Shipping Departments.
Responsible for coordinating with Upper Management, Facilities, Accounting, Purchasing, Customer Service, Regulatory, and other departments, to ensure that organisational goals regarding safety, efficiency, quality, and profitability are met.
Responsible for coordinating with and providing input (including product-related troubleshooting) to Research & Development and product development/engineering to ensure organisational goals regarding quality and profitability are met.
Additional duties may be added as the need arises.
Direct oversight, supervision, training, and evaluation of the Quality Control Supervisor and general guidance of the QC Staff to maintain proper QC of all outgoing/incoming products and equipment.
Direct oversight, supervision, training, and evaluation of the Shipping Supervisor and general guidance of the Shipping team regarding outgoing orders to be filled and backorders; shared oversight of inventory with the Accounting Manager and Purchasing Manager.
Direct oversight, supervision, training, and evaluation of the Packaging Supervisor and general guidance of the Packaging Staff to maintain quality packaging of all outgoing products.
Direct oversight, supervision, training, and evaluation of Production Supervisor and general guidance of Production Staff to maintain quality and on-time delivery of all outgoing products.
Direct approval and coordination with the Purchasing Department for laboratory needs (material requests, instrument needs/ repairs/ maintenance).
Hiring of Production, Shipping and Receiving, Inventory, QC, and Packaging Staff.
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with a laboratory setting and handling of lab-related materials.
Applicants should be well-versed in the use of the internet/email, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs.
Able to work in the cold room periodically, which is kept at 2 – 8°C (35.6 – 46.4°F).
Education and Experience
B.S. in Biology, biology-related field
3+ years’ supervisory experience or equivalent (2-3 years management experience over multiple departments preferred).
Knowledge and experience with Manufacturing Management preferred.
