About the Role

The QA Manager will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company’s food safety and quality systems. This role ensures compliance with regulatory and customer requirements, drives process improvements, and manages a high-performing QA team to support operational excellence.

Key Activities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain SQF-certified Quality Management Systems.

  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, CFIA, FDA, and customer-specific standards.

  • Approve or reject raw materials, in-process, and finished goods.

  • Lead, mentor, and coach QA staff; set clear goals and performance expectations.

  • Design and execute training programs in GMP, HACCP, Food Safety, and Food Defence.

  • Prepare for and lead internal, third-party, and regulatory audits.

  • Investigate non-conformances and customer complaints; implement corrective actions.

  • Identify and drive quality improvements across production processes.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimise efficiency and reduce waste.

  • Maintain accurate QA documentation and records.

  • Analyse quality data trends and report key metrics to senior management.

  • Ensure accuracy and compliance of product labels, including allergens and nutritional information.

Preferred Skills

  • Supervisory experience in high-volume production preferred.

  • Combination of office and production floor environments.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related discipline.

  • Certifications: PCQI, SQF, HACCP.

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience leading SQF programs and audits in a food production environment.

  • Strong knowledge of food safety systems, regulatory standards, and audit procedures.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
