


About the Role
The Operations Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing procurement and purchasing activities to support bakery operations. This role ensures the timely sourcing of raw materials, packaging, and indirect supplies while optimising costs, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring uninterrupted production.
Key Activities
Develop and execute purchasing strategies for bakery raw materials (flour, sugar, fats, yeast, additives) and packaging materials.
Manage supplier relationships, contracts, pricing negotiations, and service-level agreements.
Ensure uninterrupted supply of materials to support daily production and demand forecasts.
Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with operations to minimise shortages and excess stock.
Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards (HACCP, GMP, FSSAI/FDA as applicable).
Coordinate with quality assurance to approve suppliers and raw materials.
Analyse purchasing data, costs, and supplier performance to drive cost savings.
Work closely with production, planning, and logistics teams to align procurement with operational needs.
Manage indirect purchasing (MRO, spare parts, consumables) related to bakery operations.
Identify alternate suppliers to mitigate supply chain risks.
Ensure accurate documentation, purchase orders, and vendor records.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Food Technology, or related field.
5+ years of purchasing/procurement experience in food manufacturing or bakery operations.
Strong understanding of bakery ingredients, packaging, and supplier markets.
