


About the Role
This Production Superintendent will be responsible for driving safe, compliant, and efficient operations while leading continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives with a strong focus on safety, productivity, quality, training, development, and succession planning.
Key Activities
Plan, direct, and prioritise production activities to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
Lead and sustain Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives with a focus on safety, productivity, waste reduction, standard work, and employee engagement.
Create and foster a high-morale, inclusive workplace by treating all team members with dignity, respect, and the highest ethical standards.
Coordinate production activities with Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Food Safety, and Sanitation to optimise throughput, yields, and resource utilisation.
Review and analyse production metrics (yields, downtime, labour efficiency, waste, rework, and safety trends) to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Partner with the Safety Manager to maintain and enforce departmental safety programs; ensure compliance with OSHA, company safety standards, and PPE requirements.
Collaborate with the Operations Manager and/or Plant Manager to develop and implement operating methods and procedures that improve safety, quality, productivity, and compliance.
Ensure adherence to all QA, food safety, and regulatory requirements, including FDA/USDA regulations, customer specifications, and internal policies.
Revise production schedules and priorities as needed due to equipment failures, operating issues, staffing challenges, or changing customer demands.
Lead, coach, and develop Production Supervisors; ensure effective cross-training, skills development, and succession planning.
Establish individual and team goals, clarify accountabilities, and evaluate performance for direct reports; review and approve performance evaluations for indirect reports.
Oversee departmental labour and operating costs to ensure performance within approved budgets.
Utilise structured problem-solving methods, process control tools, and cross-functional teamwork to meet or exceed production targets.
Partner with Human Resources to address employee relations matters in accordance with company policies; participate in recruitment, selection, and retention of manufacturing personnel.

Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership or management experience in a protein manufacturing environment preferred; manufacturing experience required.
Strong background in Continuous Improvement and/or Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
