About the Role

The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for initiating the can-making process (set up, operation and maintenance of the cupping press, body makers, trimmers, and conveying systems).

Key Activities

  • Inspect, upend, and load coils onto the unwinder, ensuring proper feeding through the lubricator and into the press.

  • Perform setup, maintenance, and operation of the upender, unwinder, lubricator, and cupping press.

  • Oversee the setup, maintenance, and operation of body makers, trimmers, and conveying systems.

  • Monitors and records can specifications in the system, including flange wall thickness, mid-wall thickness, dome depth, and trim can height.

  • Conduct visual inspections and cup weight checks to ensure compliance with production standards.

  • Take corrective measures as necessary to maintain quality.

  • Assist in other production areas as needed to ensure can flow through the plant.

  • Complete required paperwork, including coil logs, check sheets, and other documentation.

  • Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.

Preferred Skills

  • Exhibits effective problem-solving and troubleshooting methods.

  • Basic knowledge of how electrical components work.

  • Ability to use precision measurement devices (i.e., micrometres and dial indicators).

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 2+ years of experience in front-end development or maintenance.

  • Working knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.
