About the Role
The Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and internal controls. This position requires a hands-on accounting leader with strong experience in manufacturing finance and exposure to cross-border operations.
Key Activities
General ledger management.
Accounts payable and receivable.
Payroll coordination
Inventory accounting.
Fixed assets.
Cash management.
Revenue recognition.
Support foreign currency conversion and financial statement consolidation activities.
Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and clearing account management.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and management reporting.
Oversee inventory valuation and manufacturing variance analysis.
Oversee and execute pricing changes, calculate landed costs, and track rebates.
Support operational performance analysis and cost optimization initiatives.
Collaborate closely with plant operations and leadership teams.
Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
Develop, monitor, and oversee standard operating procedures.
HST and U.S. sales/use tax requirements.
Corporate tax and regulatory reporting.
Payroll remittance and reporting obligations.
Coordinate annual reviews and liaise with external auditors, banks, insurance providers, and advisors.
Assist with insurance renewals, benefits administration, and financing arrangements.
Support ERP enhancements and financial process optimization initiatives.
Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting team members.
Manage projects with strong attention to organization, follow-up, and documentation.
Preferred Skills
Strong understanding of month-end and year-end accounting procedures.
ERP experience required; experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is an asset.
Education and Experience
Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
CPA designation completed or in progress preferred.
Minimum 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
