About the Role

The Inventory Control Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of inventory management within a fast-paced seafood manufacturing, distribution, and logistics environment. This role ensures product accuracy, freshness, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency across cold storage, processing, and distribution facilities.

Key Activities

  • Oversee daily cycle counts, physical inventories, and reconciliation of seafood products across all storage locations, including fresh, frozen, and live product areas.

  • Ensure precise inventory records in the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and ERP platforms, providing real-time visibility of stock levels.

  • Monitor FIFO (First In, First Out) and FEFO (First Expired, First Out) protocols to minimize spoilage and ensure product freshness compliance.

  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, variances, and shrinkage issues on time.

  • Coordinate with the Quality Assurance team to quarantine, document, and disposition non-conforming, rejected, or recalled products.

  • Supervise inventory control within refrigerated (0°F to 34°F) and frozen (-10°F and below) storage environments in compliance with HACCP and FDA food safety regulations.

  • Monitor and document temperature logs and cold chain integrity for all seafood inventory, escalating deviations immediately.

  • Coordinate product flow from receiving docks through processing to outbound distribution, minimizing dwell times for perishable items.

  • Ensure proper labeling, lot traceability, and country-of-origin documentation for all product categories.

  • Supervise, schedule, and develop a team of inventory associates.

  • Conduct performance evaluations, coaching sessions, and progressive discipline in accordance with company policies.

  • Train staff on inventory procedures, safety protocols, WMS operations, and seafood handling best practices.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement within the inventory team.

  • Ensure compliance with USDA, FDA, HACCP, and state/local regulatory requirements governing seafood storage, handling, and traceability.

  • Prepare and present weekly and monthly inventory reports, including variance analysis, turnover rates, and aging product summaries.

  • Support internal audits and regulatory inspections; this facility holds SQF (Safe Quality Food) certification and undergoes regular SQF audits — active participation in audit readiness and continuous improvement is required.

  • Maintain documentation in accordance with FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act) traceability rules.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in seafood, perishable food, or cold chain environments strongly preferred.

  • Hands-on experience with WMS platforms and ERP systems.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Food Science, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.

  • Minimum 3–5 years of inventory control or warehouse management experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
