About the Role

The Lead Chemist will oversee laboratory operations, lead product development initiatives, and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership, manage analytical testing, support process improvements, and mentor laboratory staff while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key Activities

  • Lead and supervise daily laboratory operations and analytical activities.

  • Develop, validate, and improve chemical formulations, testing methods, and laboratory procedures.

  • Conduct chemical analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause investigations.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, GMP, ISO, and other regulatory requirements.

  • Review and interpret laboratory data, prepare technical reports, and maintain accurate documentation.

  • Support research and development projects, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Train, mentor, and oversee junior chemists and laboratory technicians.

  • Collaborate with production, quality, engineering, and regulatory teams to support operational goals.

  • Monitor laboratory equipment performance, calibration, and maintenance schedules.

  • Manage inventory of chemicals, laboratory supplies, and testing materials.

  • Participate in audits, safety programs, and quality assurance initiatives.

Preferred Skills

  • Background in formulation development, quality control, or process chemistry.

  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma knowledge is a plus.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related scientific field required; Master’s degree preferred.

  • 5+ years of laboratory or pharmaceutical industry experience, including leadership responsibilities.

  • Strong knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques, laboratory instrumentation, and chemical processes.
