About the Role

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for maintaining and serving relationships with current and new customers. This person works with our fertile eggs customers to meet their needs at the best price and at the best time. They will be charged with growing the business by seeking new customers and strengthening our supply base to meet our targets. Follows up on customer needs and provides superior customer service.

Key Activities

  • Receive and handle quote requests from customers as determined by the department head.

  • Correspond with vendors for guidance on sourcing items and reducing prices to remain competitive in the market.

  • Evaluate market prices and make knowledgeable decisions on markups for customers outside of the company.

  • Ensure that proper Health Certificates are provided to meet our customer import permit requirements, especially with a customer in a new country.

  • Always be aware of opportunities to reduce costs through volume purchases, negotiations with suppliers and other means.

  • Receive and handle customer purchase orders.

  • Research supplier and/or manufacturers, having received inquiry from the customer and determine the best supplier of goods and services for their needs.

  • Maintain accurate customer and vendor databases.

  • Track orders from start to finish by following up with vendors and customers on order status and backordered items.

  • Correspond with the shipping and warehouse staff on what items are due to arrive and in determining the best mode of shipment for ordered items.

  • Provide proper shipping instructions including addresses and additional freight charges.

  • Receive items in the system and ensure all proper documentation is completed and attached to the file.

  • Assist the accounting department in making sure customer and vendor invoices have been paid in a timely manner and are logged in the correct period.

  • Maintain a good rapport with customers and suppliers on an ongoing basis, particularly in relation to pending quotes and orders.

Preferred Skills

  • Sales oriented.

  • Strong negotiation skills.

  • Sound analytical and problem solving skills.

Education and Experience

  • At least three (3) years of experience in an export, sales or marketing position.

  • B.A. or B.S. in Business, Marketing, or a similar field or equivalent experience.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish – preferred but not required.

  • International travel experience – preferred but not required.
