


About the Role
The Offset Printer Pressman will be responsible for setting up and operating our KBA 7-color sheetfed offset press with a double coater to produce high-quality printed packaging materials. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of offset printing processes, excellent mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to producing quality work while maintaining production efficiency.
Key Activities
Prepare and set up the KBA 7-colour, double-coater offset press according to job specifications, including installing plates, adjusting ink and coating systems, and loading paperboard into the feeder.
Review job tickets and verify production specifications before beginning each job.
Perform press make-ready, registration, and colour adjustments to meet customer specifications and quality standards.
Operate the press safely and efficiently to produce high-quality printed materials while meeting production schedules.
Monitor print quality throughout each production run, making adjustments as needed to maintain colour consistency, registration, coating quality, and overall print appearance.
Inspect finished products to ensure they meet customer specifications and company quality standards.
Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform routine maintenance, identifying and correcting mechanical problems to minimize downtime.
Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maximize productivity while minimizing waste and spoilage.
Clean and maintain the press and surrounding work area to ensure optimal machine performance and safe operation.
Coordinate with fellow operators, maintenance personnel, and supervisors to ensure production schedules and customer deadlines are achieved.
Use company software to accurately record make-ready times, production speeds, downtime, waste, and other production data.
Preferred Skills
Experience operating KBA (Koenig & Bauer) offset presses is strongly preferred.
Experience operating 7-color presses and double coater systems is highly preferred.
Experience printing folding cartons, paperboard, or other packaging materials is an asset.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED required. A vocational or technical certificate in Printing Technology or a related field is considered an asset.
Minimum 3 years of experience operating sheetfed offset printing presses in a commercial printing or packaging manufacturing environment.
