About the Role

The Process Technician will spend their day developing, monitoring, and troubleshooting the processes used to create plastic molded products via plastic injection. This is a hands-on role and requires a strong understanding of Plastic Injection Molding Principles, such as how plastic fills a mold and injection control.

Key Activities

  • Operate and monitor production equipment to ensure efficient manufacturing processes.

  • Set up, start up, and shut down equipment according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Monitor process parameters and adjust machine settings to maintain product specifications.

  • Perform routine inspections of equipment and production lines.

  • Diagnose process and equipment issues and implement corrective actions.

  • Perform minor preventive maintenance and coordinate with Maintenance for major repairs.

  • Report equipment malfunctions promptly to minimize production downtime.

  • Assist with equipment changeovers, startups, and validations.

  • Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, reduce waste, and increase equipment reliability.

  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen initiatives.

  • Assist in developing and updating work instructions and standard operating procedures.

  • Support process improvement projects and new equipment installations.

  • Conduct in-process quality inspections and document results.

  • Ensure products meet customer and company quality standards.

  • Maintain accurate production records, logs, and process documentation.

  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working in high-precision industries, such as medical, aerospace, defense, etc.

  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/Kaizen, continuous improvement, and root cause analysis methodologies.

Education and Experience

  • Highschool diploma or GED equivalent; associate degree or technical certificate in plastics technology, manufacturing engineering, or related field experience preferred.

  • Proven knowledge and skill in scientific molding principles, material behavior, resin drying requirements and process optimization to create consistent, high-quality parts. Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience required.
