About the Role
The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for managing the procurement process from start to finish for thousands of items and customers. As we are a distribution company, it is imperative that you have experience purchasing for a distributor.
Key Activities
Procurement process Management: Identify purchasing needs, prepare purchase orders, and ensure the timely delivery of goods and services.
Supplier Relations: Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to negotiate the best prices, terms, and delivery schedules.
Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels to avoid overstocking or stock-outs, ensuring optimal stock levels.
Cost Management: Implement cost-saving strategies and analyze market trends to secure the best deals without compromising on quality.
Quality Control: Ensure that all purchased goods and services meet the company’s quality standards and specifications.
Compliance: Follow and enforce procurement policies and procedures, ensuring all activities comply with legal and ethical standards.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of purchases, supplier agreements, and inventory logs.
Vendor Assessment: Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, reliability, and price competitiveness.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to understand their needs and provide timely solutions.
Preferred Skills
Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., CPSM, CPPB) or similar credentials.
Experience with Sage ERP systems.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in the packaging distribution industry.
