About the Role

The Plant Engineer will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant packaging operations that meet our business goals, quality standards, and customer expectations.

Key Activities

  • Lead, train, and mentor a team of packaging machine technicians to ensure high performance and continuity of operations.

  • Oversee daily packaging line operations to ensure safety, efficiency, and achievement of production targets.

  • Manage preventative and reactive maintenance programs for all packaging equipment and systems.

  • Provide technical expertise on packaging design, materials, machinery, and process optimisation (e.g., films, pouches, labels).

  • Lead technical projects such as new line installations, equipment upgrades, machine layout changes, and cost-saving initiatives.

  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPAs) to resolve recurring issues.

  • Ensure strict adherence to quality standards, GMP, regulatory requirements, and internal procedures.

  • Oversee investigations, audits, and manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) and quality metrics.

  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with external equipment vendors, packaging suppliers, and service contractors.

  • Manage the packaging department’s operational budget and oversee capital expenditure (CAPEX) for new equipment purchases.

  • Lead equipment selection, process design, and technical troubleshooting efforts.

Preferred Skills

  • Technical Skills: Extensive understanding of automated packaging machinery. Familiarity with Vertical Form Fill and Seal (VFFS) systems is highly desirable.

Education and Experience

  • Experience: 5+ years in packaging machinery operations, engineering, or maintenance in a manufacturing environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Packaging Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.

  • Equivalent technical certifications or hands-on engineering experience may be considered instead of a degree.
